Our daughter-in-law is the lucky one who's seen the otter... twice! But all of us--son, daughter-in-law, 5 and 7 yr old grandkids, husband and me--were incredibly fortunate to not just see Albert the Alligator but to hear him roar. What a sound! And good ol' Albert obliged us with two HUGE roars. What a treat... as long as Al's in the canal or on the opposite bank, that is.

Winter In Paradise
Actually, it's winter on the Gulf Coast of southwestern Florida but it's close enough to Paradise for my husband and me! We have a beautiful house on a peaceful canal; poolside, from our lanai, we get close-up views of wood storks, ibis, great white egrets, little and great blue herons, anhingas, a big alligator we've none-too-creatively nicknamed 'Albert...' and, this year, an otter!
