Better Late Than Never!

I came home from the RWA conference in Washington, D.C. two weeks ago and fully intended to post here right away... but I returned home sick, sick, sick! It was a summer cold made worse, I'm sure, by rushing around D.C. like crazy. You're supposed to take it easy when you have a cold, I know, but how could I do that when there was so much to do, so many people to see?

My editor, Joanne Grant, was there. Though we met, briefly, a couple of years ago and we've talked on the phone numerous times, this was our first real visit... and it was a joy! Here's a photo of us taken at the wonderful Presents Authors lunch given by Jo and executive editor, Tessa Shapcott. Jo took me out to dinner, too, but neither of us thought to ask the waiter to get a photo of us! Trust me when I tell you the restaurant was elegant and the food... amazing. I ordered shrimp, Cajun sausage and grits--for those non-Southerners among us (including me) it sounds, well, a bit strange. Well, it wasn't strange at all. It was absolutely delicious!

I was honored that my publisher asked me to sign copies of Billionaire Prince, Pregnant Mistress at Harlequin's big booksigning event. What fun that was! I met loads and loads of fans--a special 'hello' to all of you who stopped by. And the gorgeous cover of that book was shown absolutely everywhere at the conference, including on a huge (100 ft long plus) curved screen at Harlequin's gala which is always held Friday evening at the annual conference.

We Presents writers had a marvelous time visiting with each other, and it was especially terrific to see Sharon Kendrick and Kate Walker, sister Presents writers who came over from the UK.

So, yes, I returned home with just enough energy left to give my husband a big hug--and then I spent the next few days drinking hot tea, downing aspirin and getting rid of that miserable cold.
